Hello, Friends!
This past year brought incredible challenges and sacrifices, but also a deeper appreciation for the things that matter. In the midst of a global pandemic, outdoor spaces became paramount to safely connecting with our friends and family; our wide variety of beautiful parks became a safe haven for many. This year, let’s give thanks for our city parks with miles of hiking and bike trails, playgrounds, ball fields, basketball and tennis courts, shelter houses, picnic areas, and community spaces! All you have to do is take a walk or a drive through one of our beautiful parks to see how they vastly improve the quality of life for people of all ages throughout Lancaster.
As the current President and member of the Friends of Lancaster Parks & Recreation, I am incredibly proud of the support that we are able to provide the Parks Department so that they can focus on staffing, general equipment, and maintenance. I am constantly amazed at how much they accomplish with limited resources; we are proud to bridge the gap to help ensure our Parks remain the pride of our city. Whether its unique equipment, enhancements to the new all-abilities playground at Hunter Park, or assistance to help the underserved youth of Lancaster participate in summer camp or go the pool, we know that our investments provide individuals, families, and kids the opportunity to play and grow in a safe environment that creates a deeper connection to nature and the community as a whole. We love our parks system and it shows!
Supporting our glorious city park system is a labor of love and many hands make light work; there are many opportunities to come together safely and connect with community over a shared love of nature. We love volunteering in our green spaces and at special events and have fun doing it! Interested in doing some spring cleanup around our beautiful parks? Want to get a look behind-the-scenes at the Pumpkin Hike or Santa in the Park? Become our Friend and volunteer with us to help our parks stay beautiful! Don’t forget to follow us on Facebook and Instagram!
I hope you’ll join me and many others by becoming a Friend of Lancaster Parks & Recreation. With the support of people like you, we can keep our parks and our community a healthy and happy place to be. I look forward to working with you to make a difference in our community and thank you for your support, now and always!
Warmly,
Amanda Everitt
